Josh G. Shelby
Josh G. Shelby is a Principal of Northport Investments and joined Northport in 2000. Has has over twenty years of experience in corporate finance, financial services leadership, private equity, executive recruiting and several successful entrepreneurial endeavors. While at Northport, Josh has worked on financings for companies across a variety of industries including, Amyris Biotechnologies, Fisker Automotive, VIRxSYS, Brammo, Turin Networks, Greentech Media, BrightSource Energy and Acoustic Technologies.
From an entrepreneurial standpoint, Josh has founded four companies. Two were sold quickly and another, a manufacturing company he co-founded in 1998, is growing rapidly with sales approaching $20M. At this company, Josh holds a non-executive officer position on the board of directors, allowing him to focus exclusively on Northport activities.
Prior to co-founding the manufacturing company, Josh was a Principal at Slayton International, an executive search consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois, focused on the financial services, manufacturing and high-tech industries with clients ranging from start-ups to multi-billion dollar, global corporations.
As part of an M.B.A. program in 1995, Josh was involved in the Technology Transfer department of Sandia National Laboratories, a U.S. Government research and development laboratory. His primary responsibility consisted of coordinating technology transfer from Sandia to small businesses. This has provided Josh with a variety of insights on entrepreneurial management and technology issues.
Prior to earning his M.B.A., Josh was a corporate finance analyst for Bear, Stearns & Co. In this capacity, he was responsible for the analysis of mid-sized corporate transactions including initial public offerings, private placements, corporate bond offerings, acquisitions and subsidiary spin-offs.
Josh graduated with honors from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management with a Masters in Business Administration. His concentrations were in finance and entrepreneurship. Josh holds a B.A. degree in Psychology and Economics from Georgetown University.
David T. Shelby
David T. Shelby founded Northport Investments in 1997 and has assisted in nearly every financing in which Northport has participated during its history.
Prior to founding Northport, David was the founder of ICM Industries, Inc. Through consulting services provided by its consulting arm, International Consulting Management, Ltd., and by forming subsidiary acquisition companies to directly acquire ownership of financially troubled companies, ICM was instrumental in managing or assisting management in turning around a number of distressed companies, particularly in the field of manufacturing. All operating companies that ICM acquired have now been sold.
Prior to forming ICM, David was employed by International Harvester Corporation (now known as Navistar International Transportation Corporation). While at International Harvester, David held executive positions in the Divestitures group, European Agricultural Operations, the Engine & Foundry Division and the North American Manufacturing Group.
Prior to his affiliation with International Harvester, David progressively moved through a number of key diversified domestic and international assignments with Ford Motor Company. His last position with Ford was as the senior financial executive of the North American Truck Operations.
David presently serves as a board observer of VIRxSYS Corporation. He holds a B.B.A. degree in Finance and an M.B.A. degree in International Business from the University of Michigan.
Tyson W. Morgan
Tyson W. Morgan is a Principal of Northport Investments. He has over sixteen years of experience in technology product management and client relations, operations, business development and senior management in financial services. While at Northport, Tyson has worked on financings for companies in the alternative energy, software, semiconductor, data networking and digital media industries including Bloom Energy, Fisker Automotive, Bunchball, OurStage, RMI, Suniva, Force10 Networks and Helium.
Prior to joining Northport, Tyson was a Senior Product Manager at Sycamore Networks, a provider of fiber optic switching equipment and software. At Sycamore Networks, he was responsible for developing the company's pricing models, multiple product introductions and discontinuations, as well as gathering product requirements from global telecommunication service providers. Tyson served as chairperson of the company's cost reduction committee, which led to several product innovations and generated new business from key customers worth over $100M.
Prior to Sycamore Networks, Tyson was a founding member of VTech Industries' Internet Appliance Division, which was chartered to capitalize on the emerging market for low-cost consumer communication products. As Director of Product Management, he worked in concert with a Hong Kong-based development team to co-create and launch the first Internet appliance linked with Yahoo! Mail, which garnered Newsweek's "Gadget of the Year" in 1999.
Tyson served in various product management and marketing roles at 3Com/U.S. Robotics prior to joining VTech Industries in 1998. In these roles, he was involved in the planning, development and introduction of the company's first video conferencing and full-duplex speakerphone products.
Tyson serves as a board observer of OurStage, Inc. and holds a B.A. in Telecommunications from Indiana University.
Adam S. Green
Adam S. Green is a Principal of Northport Investments. At Northport, Mr. Green focuses on deal sourcing, fund raising, due diligence and operational leadership. He has served as a senior advisor to various high-growth and early stage companies across multiple sectors. As an experienced investment professional Adam has raised over $4 billion of debt and equity financing. Adam's financial background includes experience in leveraged finance, technology, media and telecom (TMT) and real estate investment banking, as well as buy-side experience across the capital structure at Stoltz Real Estate Partners, Bear Stearns, Calyon Securities, Citadel Investment Group and Kohlberg & Co.
In addition to his financial experience, Adam has a comprehensive entrepreneurial background including early-stage management, co-founder or advisor at Insomnia Cookies, BanyanLink, WeddingRelay, LocalVox, thebigword, Blue Polo Interactive and RSC Solutions as well as board-level management experience across multiple sectors.
Adam is based in New York City with a focus on the East Coast, UK, Europe and Israel.
Adam is a founder and serves on the board of the New York City UJA-Federation Young Wall Street Division and holds a B.S. in finance, accounting and Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
